Youth Activities

Involving the youth in our community is an important part of the Melwood Prince George’s County Open presented by Under Armour. On Monday of tournament week, some of the more experienced young golfers in our region compete in a High School Invitational on the tournament course. Later that day, the young novice golfers in our community are invited to participate in a free golf clinic where they receive first-hand instruction from PGA Tour professionals.

Additionally, all children 12 and under are admitted to the event free of charge, Thursday thru Sunday.

High School Invitational
The High School Invitational presented by Under Armour is a great way for your high school golfer to get some competitive experience on a course ready for the pros. Teams comprising of 3 males and 1 female compete on the tournament golf course in a best two-ball gross 18-hole event. The tournament concludes with an awards luncheon and trophy presentation.

There are limited positions for this event. If you have a high school student interested in learning more about the selection process please contact the tournament office.

Youth Golf Clinic
This clinic is free of charge and open to children of all ages. Nationwide Tour professional golfers instruct youth throughout the region at beginner, intermediate, and advanced skill levels, providing golf fundamentals and skills enhancement tips. In addition to golf instruction, participants will enjoy gift packages of golf memorabilia, snacks and ice cream.
